Professor Chen Yao is Vice Director, Peking University Clinical Research Institute and Director of the Department of Biostatistics at First Affiliated Hospital, Peking University. He is Vice Chairman of the Committee of Evidence-based Medicine at the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and also serves as Vice Chairman of the Committee of Statistical Theory and Methodology and Vice Chairman of Education of Biostatistics, China Association of Biostatistics (CABS). Prior to his appointment at Peking University in 2004, Professor Yao spent 17 years with the Department of Medical Statistics of PLA General Hospital fulfilling a variety of roles including Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor, and Director. Professor Yao received his medical degree in aviation medicine and M.S. degree in Biostatistics from the Fourth Military Medical University and has authored several books including Medical Statistics (Second Edition), Progresses in Biostatistics in New Drug Clinical Trial, and Multivariable Analysis: A Practical Guide for Clinicians. He has published over 20 papers on clinical trials and is a Member of the Expert Committee of New Drug Evaluation of CFDA. In 2011, Professor Yao was a speaker at the APEC Multi-regional clinical trials Tokyo Workshop, which had China-Japan-Korea tripartite cooperation as the main discussion topic.
