Professor and Investigator, Chairman of Pharmaceutical Engineering Specialized Committee of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association
Professor Xiong Yu is an investigator at the China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm), and was formerly Vice President of China State Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry (CSIPI) in charge of business operations, international cooperation and technological innovation. He previously served as Director of Chemistry Department and Vice President at Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry (SIPI), General Manager and Chairman of Yangzhou Weike Biological Engineering Co, Director at Shyndec Pharmaceutical, an independent director of Lukang Pharmaceutical Group, Taiantang Pharmaceutical Co, Livzon Group, and Xinhua Pharmaceutical Co, and an adjunct professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University. He currently sits as a vice president at Joincare Pharmaceutical Group and an adjunct professor of East China Normal University and East China University of Science and Technology. He was previously a visiting scholar at California State University, Northridge. For over three decades he has focused on chemical drug synthesis and innovative drug research in various therapeutic areas and made significant achievements in phosphonate synthetic drug research. He has completed research and development for more than 30 projects, including key national and provincial scientific research projects, and has applied for more than 40 innovative patents, with over 30 of them authorized. Prof. Yu was awarded the special allowance of the State Council in 1999 and recognized with six Science and Technology Progress Awards at the ministerial and provincial levels. He has published more than 40 scientific papers and had been in charge of the Large Platform for Integrative Drug Research and Development, an ‘Eleventh Five-Year’ Major Project at SIPI.
